There are two ways to upgrade the BIOS program on ThinkPad notebooks:
Tip: There are great risks in BIOS refresh and upgrade, please operate with caution.
Note: Before refreshing, the battery must be fully charged and the AC adapter must be connected, otherwise it cannot be refreshed.
Also: It is recommended to use a CD to refresh the BIOS first. Refreshing the BIOS in the operating system may sometimes be affected by system stability.
1. How to refresh BIOS by booting from CD
1. Take ThinkPad X61 as an example to refresh the BIOS of this machine. First, find the corresponding BIOS version download.
Taking the Chinese website as an example, log in to http://think.lenovo.com.cn and enter the 7-digit model number of the host on the left, and then the download page as shown below will open. To perform a CD upgrade, click the second one in BIOS: BIOS Upgrade Program (CD version).
2. After opening the program download page, click the program icon to download.
3. After downloading 7nuj16uc.iso, please burn this ISO file to a CD.
4. Then put the CD into the optical drive, start the computer, and press the F12 key to choose to boot from the CD.
5. After booting from the CD, the following menu will appear:
The first item is to explain that you can read aDown.
The second item is the BIOS upgrade option.
The third item is to refresh the model information of the machine. Refreshing is not recommended.
Directly select item 2 and press Enter. After pressing Enter, "Press Y to continue" will appear. It will remind you twice. Just press Y again.
6. After pressing Y, the following prompt will appear: Make sure the power adapter is firmly connected.
7. Press Enter to continue: Prompt not to cut off the power supply.
8. Press Y to continue and start refreshing, which will end in about 1 minute.
9. After success, the following prompt will appear: Eject the optical drive and restart the computer.
10. Directly enter F1 to view the BIOS and the refresh is successful.
2. Method of refreshing the BIOS in the operating system
Disclaimer: Upgrading the BIOS has certain risks. A midway power outage may cause irreparable damage. The upgrade process provided in this technical document is a standard operation and is for reference only. 1. Taking ThinkPad X61 as an example, to refresh the BIOS of this machine, you must first find the corresponding BIOS version to download.

2. After opening the program download page, click the program icon to download.
3. Run the BIOS upgrade program installation package.
4. After the program opens, click Next.
5. Please review the agreement, choose whether to accept it, and then click Next.
6. Unzip the bios upgrade program to the default path.
7. The decompression process is completed.
8. Open the decompressed path, such as C:\DRIVERS\FLASH\7NUJ19US and double-click the WINUPTP file to execute the upgrade program.
9. Select the first option to upgrade the BIOS.
10. It prompts you to confirm that the battery is installed and the power adapter is connected.
11. Please do not cut off the power during the upgrade process, otherwise it will cause irreparable damage.
12. Start the upgrade process.
13. The upgrade is successful, and you are prompted to restart the computer, click yes.
14. After restarting the computer, the BIOS will flash under normal circumstances.New completed!
