If you want to know whether your system is equipped with a built-in microphone, or want to see whether the system can detect the microphone, you can check the audio device properties under Windows Vista and Windows 7.
Under WindowsVista:
1 , click Start and then click Control Panel.
2. You can switch to classic view mode on the left side of the window.
3. Double-click the sound and select the Recording tab in the sound properties.
4. This recording tab will display the installed microphone.
Under Windows 7:
1. Click Start and then click Control Panel.
2. Click Hardware and Sound and then select Management Audio equipment.
3. This recording tab will display the installed microphone.
If no microphone appears, you can use an external microphone on most systems. A typical external microphone interface is pink, and most interfaces will have a microphone icon next to them.
