Lenovo notebooks no longer have the "Hyper Terminal" software under VISTA.

HyperTerminal: Enables a computer to connect to other computers, Internet telnet sites, bulletin board services, online services, or computer mainframes by using a modem or null modem cable (that is, a directly connected cable). This function is generally used to debug serial and parallel port devices, or to set up ADSL MODEM or routers.
