Tutorial on how to use the built-in search engine of the Apple tablet iPad: You can search the built-in applications of the iPad, including Mail, "Calendar", iPod, "Videos", "Memos" and "Contacts". Search a single app, or use Spotlight to search all apps at once.
Go to Spotlight: On the Home screen, quickly swipe your finger right or press the Home button. On the Spotlight page, you can press the Home button to return to the primary Home screen.
To set iPad to go to Spotlight when you double-click the Home button, choose Settings > General > Home Button.
Search iPad: On the Spotlight page, enter text in the Search field. Search results appear automatically as you type. Tap Search to hide the keyboard and see more results.
Tap an item in the results list to open it. The icon to the left of the search results lets you know which application the results came from.

Mail recipients, senders and subject lines for all accounts (not Searches message text)

Spotlight also searches the names of apps built into the iPad and the names of installed apps. If you have many apps, you can use Spotlight to find their location and open them.
Open an app from Spotlight: Enter the app name, then tap to open the app.
You can select the application andits search order. In Settings, choose General > Home Button > Search Results.
